WATERFORD, Conn.—Behind Gryphon front-runner
Caleb Jaster (New Hampton, N.H., Sant Bani), Sarah Lawrence College men's cross country concluded its regular season with a run at the 2012 Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. Though Sarah Lawrence placed last in a competitive field of 22 teams, four Gryphons set personal bests, while all five posted successful times.
On the 8K course, Jaster punched in a time of 31:10, beating out his own best of 31:55 as the team's best run of the season. The reigning Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Rookie of the Week has now led Sarah Lawrence in last five races.
Sophomore
Asher Morse (Falls Church, Va., George Mason) regained his post as the Gryphons' No. 2 runner, clocking in at 33:10 and smashing his previous best of 35:39. Classmate
Riley Smith (West Linn, Ore., Palo Alto (Calif.)) was the next Sarah Lawrence harrier across the line, finishing at 34:51, nearly a full minute of his 35:39 mark from two weeks ago.
Rounding out the team's efforts, first-year runner
Cassidy Bernstein (Brooklyn, N.Y., The Beekman School) paced his classmate
Ben LoPiccolo (Foster, R.I., Ponaganset), helping the latter take nearly five minutes off his personal record. Bernstein stopped the clock at 36:51, while LoPiccolo followed at 36:57, demolishing his best of 41:32 set last week.
Sarah Lawrence concludes this year's campaign at the 2012 HVMAC Championship. This year's event is hosted by the league at Bard College on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m.
