BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the team's penultimate meet of the calendar year, Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming lost to visiting William Paterson University, 105-72, at Campbell Sports Center pool on Wednesday.
Sarah Lawrence (1-3) saw two school records broken on the day. In the night's opening event, the Green and White squad posted a time of 1:56.82 to break the 200 yard medley relay record set early in the season. Rookies
Cameron Rudd (Portland, Ore.) and
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas, Aledo) teamed with sophomore
Eben Woodward (Los Angeles, Calif., Notre Dame) and graduate student
Ned Bandera-Duplantier (Houston, Texas, Westfield).
Rudd picked up a school record in the 1000 yard freestyle, clocking in at 14:14.75 after 40 lengths of the pool.
Martinez went on to win the 200 yard freestyle in 1:50.92 and added a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a swim of 52.71.
Bandera-Duplantier, a 2004 Sarah Lawrence graduate, posted the team's best times in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in his first intercollegiate competition.
Woodward posted the Gryphons' best times of the evening in the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard breaststroke.
In the end, William Paterson (5-3) won six of the first eight events to build an insurmountable lead and come away with the win.
Sarah Lawrence hosts its final meet of December on Friday. The Gryphons will play host to Bard College and Purchase College at Campbell Sports Center at 7 p.m.
