Meet Results
BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the team's final home meet of the season, Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming fell to SUNY College at Old Westbury, 109-79, at Campbell Sports Center on Thursday.
Prior to the meet, the Gryphons' two graduating seniors,
Alexander Skillman (Katonah, N.Y., John Jay) and
Gabriel Chazanov (Los Angeles, Calif., Milken Community) were honored in a brief ceremony.
Old Westbury (3-4) won the opening relay and quickly pulled away with an early lead.
Rookie
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas, Aledo) picked up the first win of the day for Sarah Lawrence (2-5) with his effort in the 200 yard individual medley. Martinez touched the wall in 2:11.88, besting the closest Panther by nearly 40 seconds. Martinez added another victory in the next event, 100 yard butterfly, by touching the wall in 56.89 seconds.
First-year swimmer
Cameron Rudd (Portland, Ore.) added another victory for the Gryphons by winning the 500 yard freestyle.
Distance specialist
Paul Latislaw (Van Nuys, Calif., CHAMPS Charter) posted a runner-up finish in the 1000 yard freestyle with a mark of 15:04.64. Graduate student
Ned Bandera-Duplantier (Houston, Texas, Westfield) picked up a second-place finish in the 100 yard free (1:02.77). In the 500 free,
Nicolo Filice (Berkeley, Calif., Maybeck) scored second-place points with a swim of 8:57.97, while
Eben Woodward (Los Angeles, Calif., Notre Dame) was clipped by 0.2 second in runner-up swim in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:22.89).
Sarah Lawrence looks forward to its next scheduled meet at Brooklyn College on Saturday, January 26.
