2013-14 Honors and Awards

NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis player Autumn Atkinson (Manasquan, N.J./George School) has been named Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the period ending October 13, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Atkinson posted her second straight 4-0 week for the Gryphons as Sarah Lawrence split its matches on the week. During the HVIAC win over College of New Rochelle, the rookie dropped only one game during a pair of convincing wins at No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles.

On Friday, the three-time HVIAC Player of the Week helped SLC score two points in a loss to College of Staten Island. With fellow rookie Juliet Slade (St. Paul, Minn./Central), the partnership improved their record to 11-0 on the year with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles. At No. 3 singles, Atkinson won, 10-3, improving to 9-2 in singles play, including wins in her last five matches.

Sarah Lawrence women's tennis hosts Purchase College on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Andrews Courts. The Gryphons then play their regular-season finale against Yeshiva University on Wednesday, Oct. 23, before proceeding to the 2013 HVIAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
