Newsom Named to All-HVIAC Team

NEW YORK—On Tuesday, the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) announced the 12 men named to the 2013 All-HVIAC Men's Cross Country Team, recognizing outstanding performances throughout the past season. Among the recipients, Sarah Lawrence College first-year runner Pat Newsom (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) was honored.

Newsom was the Gryphons' No. 2 runner for much of the season, finally pacing the Gryphons at the 2013 HVIAC Championship on October 20. The rookie had a stand-out day, setting a program 8K record with a run of 29:56, earning 16th place in the event. Newsom joined sophomore Caleb Jaster (New Hampton, N.H./Sant Bani) as the Gryphons' two medalists in the race. Anchored by Newsom and Jaster, the Green and White placed fifth in the championship event.
