BRONXVILLE, N.Y.
—In the team's first dual-meet competition of the season, Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming defeated SUNY Cobleskill (3-1), 95-91, and toppled College of Mount Saint Vincent (0-3), 140-15, at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.

Sarah Lawrence (2-0) started the day with a win in the 200 yard medley relay. Jericho Walker-Roberts (Ashland, Ore./Ashland), Jack Chu (Hong Kong/Irvington (Calif.)), Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) and Doug Rubenstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Hamilton) posted a first-place time of 1:55.40; an early take-off disqualified Cobleskill, costing the Fighting Tigers four critical points.

In the next event, Walker-Roberts set a new program record finishing the 1000 freestyle in 13:52.02. His effort broke the previous mark of 14:14.75, set by teammate Cameron Rudd (Portland, Ore./Portland Community College) last season. Walker-Roberts' 500 yard split time was 0.02 second shy of another SLC record, held by Rubenstein (6:39.49).

Martinez added two more wins for the Gryphons. He took top honors in the 200 yard freestyle with a swim of 1:51.26, and he touched the wall first in the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 54.76.

Chu contributed two more wins for the Gryphons, as the rookie won the 100 yard freestyle by a three-second margin, 52.92, and triumphed by a half-second in the 200 yard individual medley, 2:12.44.

While Cobleskill took first place in the 500 yard free, the Green and White scored valuable points with a second-third finish. Junior Owen Marks (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) finished as runner-up, while senior Luc Mitchell (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) followed in third place.

Other runner-up performances included Rubenstein's second-place swim in the 50 yard freestyle (25.56), and a second-place swim by Walker-Roberts in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.47).

SLC rounded out the day with a second-place in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Rudd, Michael Turadek (Bronx, N.Y./HS for Environmental Studies), Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School) and Marks completed their relay in 1:58.98 to score the final points necessary to edge Cobleskill in the team scoring.

Sarah Lawrence competes in its final home meet of 2013-14 next Saturday. The Gryphons host Mount Saint Mary College and Brooklyn College on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
