On the men's side, four team and three meet records were broken.

The Gryphon men began the meet in the spotlight, as Jack Chu (Hong Kong/Irvington (Calif.)), Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo), Doug Rubenstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Hamilton) and Jericho Walker-Roberts (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) set a new SLC and meet record of 1:35.94 in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Martinez gave the men their second event victory by cruising to a win in the 200 individual medley. His mark of 1:57.40 broke the meet record by a 13 second margin.

Chu earned an individual win by setting new SLC and Ranger Invitational records in the 50 free. He took three quarters of a second off his preliminary time and touched the wall in 23.05 seconds for first place. Rubenstein also placed, improving to sixth with a swim of 25.31.

In the 400 yard medley relay, Chu, Walker-Roberts, Martinez and Rubenstein finished the day with a runner-up finish of 3:59.93, becoming the first Green and White foursome to eclipse the four-minute barrier in the event.

SLC scored 57 points on the first day and trails FDU Florham (86 points) and Drew (85) in the men's standings.

The Gryphon women began the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay.  Rookies Jacqueline Quirk (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) and Colette Harley (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) teamed with junior Natasha Leonard (Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i/Kealakehe) and first year Gabby Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) to post a time of 1:53.17, the team's best mark this season.

In the 500 free, Harley (5:55.02) and junior Alexis Bates (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) (6:01.70) added points with fifth and sixth-place finishes respectively, both with season-best times.

Three Gryphons qualified for the final in the 200 individual medley, paced by Jay Pulitano (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) in fifth place (2:33.77).
