NEW YORK—The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has honored women's tennis player Autumn Atkinson and women's cross-country runner Natalie Grieco as Rookies of the Week in their respective sports for the period ending Sept. 22, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
 
Atkinson earned three points for the Gryphons during the team's 1-2 week, compiling a 1-1 record in singles and 2-1 record in doubles. The two-time HVIAC Player of the Week won her No. 3 singles match against Bard by dropping only three games (6-1, 6-2), and with partner Juliet Slade, the duo improved their unblemished record to 5-0 with wins over Vaughn and Mount Saint Mary.
 
At the Bard College Invitational, Grieco took two-and-a-half minutes off her season's best time and clocked in at 21:36 as the top HVIAC rookie runner. Grieco was the second Gryphon across the line, finishing in 52nd overall and helping Sarah Lawrence to a 10th-place team finish.
