Meet Results
COBLESKILL, N.Y.—Earning a win in the team's first-ever conference meet, Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming defeated College of Mount Saint Vincent, 110-41, at Bouck Hall Natatorium on Saturday. The Gryphons also lost to host SUNY Cobleskill, 132-72, in the double dual format.
After previously competing independently, Sarah Lawrence (1-1, 1-0 Skyline) earned a conference win against Mount Saint Vincent (0-3, 0-2 Skyline). The SLC men's program was promoted to varsity status in 2011 and is now in its first season as a member of the Skyline. SUNY Cobleskill (3-1) competes in the NEAC.
Three different Gryphons succeeded in winning both of their individual events. Junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) triumphed in the 100 yard butterfly (54.64) and 200 individual medley (2:03.93), earning Skyline Swimmer of the Week honors for the second-straight week.
First year
Albert Riley (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) made his intercollegiate debut by scoring victories in the 500 freestyle (5:25.40) and 1000 freestyle (11:19.26). His time in the 1000 free is 24 seconds faster than SLC's previous best, marking the men's first program record of the 2014-15 season. For his efforts, Riley was named Skyline Rookie of the Week.
Sophomore
Jack Chu (Hong Kong/Irvington (Calif.)) earned a pair of wins, touching the wall first in the 50 free (23.16) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.76).
Senior
Jay Pulitano (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) posted a pair of third-place finishes. His efforts in the 200 free (2:21.52) and 100 backstroke (1:13.28) helped the Gryphons secure victory as he beat out his Mount Saint Vincent rivals in both events.
Senior
Owen Marks (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) made contributions in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events, while sophomore
Nick Ransom (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) scored in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly races.
Rookies
Brendan McAlevy (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) and
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) combined to contribute an additional 20 points to the SLC team scores.
Sarah Lawrence next travels to face Skyline opponent Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) on Saturday, Nov. 15.
