EWING N.J.—Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming student-athlete Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) broke three SLC team records while representing the Gryphons at the The College of New Jersey Invitational at TCNJ Aquatics Center, December 4-6.

On day one, Martinez swam a season-best in the 200 yard individual medley, stopping the clock at 1:52.18 and setting a new SLC record in the event. The time bettered the NCAA Division III 'B' cut qualifying time by 0.35 second, giving the SLC senior his first potentional championship-qualifying time of the season. Advancing to Friday night's final as the top seed, Martinez lost a quarter of a second but out-touched his opponents, winning the event in 1:52.42.

Day two saw Martinez post the best qualifying time in the 100 yard butterfly, swimming a preliminary time of 49.56 seconds and earning his second NCAA 'B' cut of the meet. He also swam the 100 yard breaststroke in an SLC-record time of 1:00.56, qualifying ninth in the event. On Saturday evening, Martinez returned to take second place in the 100 fly, improving his time to 49.44. He also bettered his breaststroke record to 1:00.21, solidifying ninth place in the event.

On the third and final day, Martinez was the top qualifier in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.43. Between sessions, he completed a 100 yard butterfly time trial in 48.24 seconds, setting an SLC record in the event. His time is 0.78 second faster than the time required to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Championships, putting him in prime position to receive an invitation to this season's event. In his final race of the weekend, Martinez took second place in Sunday evening's 200 butterfly final. His time of 1:49.01 is more than a second faster than the invite time from last year's championship.

Martinez will join the rest of his team on Saturday, Dec. 12, when the Gryphons race in their final dual meet of the semester. SLC travels to Purchase College for the Gryphons' final Skyline meet of the season.
