Rachel Mosquera received the 2016 women's soccer Coaches Award and was named to the Skyline Academic Honor Roll. The rookie transitioned from field player to be the team’s sole goalkeeper for 14 straight games, setting program records for season wins (5) and goals-against average (2.90). Mosquera racked up 11 saves against Purchase (Sept. 13) and earned her first shutout victory, 4-0, versus Saint Elizabeth (Sept. 17). She totaled 13 saves against Farmingdale State (Oct. 1) and notched 10 saves against St. Joseph’s L.I. (Oct. 15). Mosquera went 96 scoreless minutes and set a season-high 16 saves against Sage (Oct. 25). She finished the season with the best save percentage (68.5), best goals-against average (2.90), and second-most career saves (89) in program history.
