Meet Results

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—
Three Gryphon records were broken and the team picked up a pair of wins, as Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming defeated College of Mount Saint Vincent, 129-58, and SUNY Cobleskill, 129-58, at Campbell Sports Center pool on Saturday.

Sarah Lawrence sophomore Alexis Bates (Morristown, N.J., Morristown) began the meet by swimming the anchor leg of the 200 yard medley relay. With teammates Ariana Peschke (Topanga, Calif., La Reina), Natasha Leonard (Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i, Kealakehe) and Sonia Abraham (Orinda, Calif., Miramonte), the foursome won the event in 2:09.72. Bates then took second place in the 1000 freestyle, bettering her own school-record with a performance of 12:25.92.

Peschke showcased her speed in the 50 freestyle, setting a new Gryphon best of 26.09, beating the previous mark of 27.12 set in 2011. Peschke also bettered her program record in the 100 backstroke with a new time of 1:01.17.

In the 200 individual medley, Pulitano touched the wall first in 2:37.45.

Bates rounded out Sarah Lawrence's event winners with her swim of 6:07.53 in the 500 freestyle, narrowly missing the school mark.

Amberchan also had an impressive swim in the 200 free, taking second place with a swim of 2:32.19 in her debut in the event.

“Overall, we did very well,” remarked Head Coach Eric Mitchell. “We put some swimmers in different events for the first time, and they fared pretty well.”

Sarah Lawrence next heads to face Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday in Newburgh, N.Y. for a meet starting at 1 p.m.
