Softball Looks to Clinch First 'W' as Team Heads to Brooklyn

Bronxville, NY - April 10, 2012

With three postponed double-headers and four losses since the Gryphons' first game of the season, the Sarah Lawrence softball team is looking ahead to two games against St. Joe's in Brooklyn this Friday to put up their first post-spring break season victories.

On Tuesday, April 3, the Gryphons faced off against Purchase College following two postponed double-headers on the tail end of spring break. Sarah Lawrence was shut out in both games by Purchase 0-21 and 0-18.

On April 7, following a rematch against College of New Rochelle that was also postponed (see postgame write-up of the Gryphons' March 9 game against New Rochelle here), Sarah Lawrence lost to Lehman College at home 3-12 and 1-21, on the heels of two first innings in which the Lehman Lightning struck early and hard, going up by seven in the first game and six in the second in their first at bats. The Gryphons played hard, but were unable to come back from the early deficits.

The Gryphons will have to come out swinging on Friday against the St. Joe's Bears, who boast a 9-6 record going into the double-header, which starts at 4:30pm on the Bears' home turf.

SLC's next home double-header at the Mary LeVine Field will be this Sunday against Brooklyn College. The first game starts at 1pm. (To see scores, click here.)
