NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College women's swimmers
Sam Amberchan (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and
Gabby Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) have been selected as Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the period ending Dec. 15, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
The accolades mark six straight weeks in which Gryphon swimmers have swept the HVIAC's weekly awards.
Amberchan earned four wins, including two individual victories, to help the Gryphons to dual-meet victories over Old Westbury and Bard last week. The SLC sophomore swam lead-off legs in both winning 200 medley relays. She also swam the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke in both meets, winning each event once.
In the two meets, Risica won five of her six races, including three individual wins. In addition to swimming anchor leg of SLC's winning 200 yard medley relays, the sprinter won the 50 freestyle at both meets. In the 100-yard freestyle, she earned a first and second place finish on the week.
