BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Though the Gryphons took an early lead in game two, Sarah Lawrence College softball fell to York College (N.Y.), 12-1 and 22-2, in a non-conference doubleheader at Mary LeVine Field on Sunday.
In game one, Sarah Lawrence (0-17) held the Cardinals to just two runs on three hits through the first three innings. In the bottom of the third, a
Hannah Gordon (Denver, Colo., George Washington) walk and hits by
Tori Himes (Boulder, Colo., New Vista) and
Lauren Gray (Sea Cliff, N.Y., Waldorf School of Garden City) eventually brought
Xina Graham-Vannais (Newtown, Pa., George School) around the bases to cut the deficit to 2-1.
York (5-18) put three more runs to expand the lead to 5-1 in the middle of the fifth inning. Graham-Vannais hit and advanced into scoring position, but the Cardinals kept the Gryphons off the board.
In the sixth inning, York put the game out of reach with seven runs, including three on a home run by
Thessaly Belizario.

Rebecca Kuntz (Northridge, Calif., Chaminade College Preparatory) finished the six-inning complete game with two strikeouts and only one earned run. York's
Kimberly Barnes earned her first win of the season with three runs, two hits and one earned run in four innings from the circle. Belizario relieved and notched two strikeouts.
Sarah Lawrence was first on the scoreboard in game two. After holding York scoreless in the top of the first, Gordon led off the bottom of the inning by reaching on a Cardinal error. She stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the game's first run on an infield grounder by Gray.
York was quick to recover, scoring five runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings. Belizario hit a two-run homer in the Cardinals' seven-run fifth inning, as the visitors racked up a 22-1 advantage.
In the bottom of the sixth, Himes worked her way around the pond and came home on a throwing error by the first baseman, rounding out the scoring in the 22-2 ballgame.
Belizario concluded the red-letter day with the win in game two, tossing three strikeouts with no earned runs. Gryphon
Anhad Hundal (New Delhi, India, Vasant Valley School) threw all five innings of the game, recording one strikeout.
Sarah Lawrence is set to host College of Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday. Action at Mary LeVine Field is slated to start at 4 p.m.
