BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In a back-and-forth, high-scoring affair, Sarah Lawrence College softball defeated College of New Rochelle, 25-13, in a non-conference game at Mary LeVine Field on Friday. The victory earned the Gryphons' first win in their last game of the regular season.
New Rochelle (5-27) posted one run off one hit to start the scoring in the top of the first inning. Sarah Lawrence (1-25) responded quickly, capitalizing off four walks, four errors and a hit batsman to bring seven runs across the plate in the bottom of the frame. Designated player
Amanda Kelly (Brooklyn, N.Y., Brooklyn Sch. for Collaborative Studies) blasted an RBI-single to center field to earn the Gryphons' first hit of the game.
In the second inning, five CNR hits and two SLC errors helped the Blue Angels back into the game.
Meghan King batted in a pair of runs with a single down the left line as the visitors tallied seven unearned runs to retake the lead, 8-7.

Ciaran Rhodes (Haddon Township, N.J., Haddon Township) was able to slip an RBI single into right field to start the scoring on the inning. Three more Gryphons reached base on being struck by the ball, and Sarah Lawrence left the inning with four runs for an 11-8 advantage.
The top of the third inning saw CNR again convert on SLC defensive mistakes. Four Blue Angels reached first base on an error, while four others notched hits, including an RBI-double by King. Four CNR runners reached home, and Sarah Lawrence trailed again, 12-11.

Tori Himes (Boulder, Colo., New Vista) singled in her first time at bat while 11 Gryphons were given free passes on walks or by being hit by pitches. Sophomore
Ariana Muoio (Cross River, N.Y., Convent of the Sacred Heart) notched her first hit of the day on a single through the left side, and Sarah Lawrence totaled 11 runs in the inning for a 22-12 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Sarah Lawrence dismissed the Blue Angles in a 1-2-3 inning and clinched the first win of the season for the Green and White.
