Meet ResultsNEWBURGH, N.Y.—As the Gryphons move into the second half of the 2014 season, Sarah Lawrence College women's cross country competed at the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invite on Saturday.
The Gryphons secured a point total to take 10th place among 20 scoring teams. SLC was fourth among nine Skyline Conference rivals, surpassing Farmingdale State, Maritime, Mount Saint Vincent, Purchase and Old Westbury.
Leading the way for the Gryphons, sophomore
Natalie Grieco (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Fenwick) took 21st in the field of 178, crossing the line in 22:07.
Senior
Elizabeth Emery (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) worked her way up the lineup with her fifth-straight top-40 finish, posting a season-best time of 23:01.
Reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week
Katherine Shepard (Visalia, Calif./Mount Whitney) was the next Gryphon to finish, recording a mark of 23:17. Classmate
Georgia Cohen (New York, N.Y./UNC School of the Arts) followed in 27:11, setting a career 5K best.
Rookie
Nawshin Abanti (Dhaka, India/International School Dhaka) was the final scorer for the Green and White, missing her personal best by less than half a minute in 27:27. Sophomore
Melissa Molina (Union, N.J./Union) posted a season best of 28:39, becoming the sixth Gryphon across the line.
SLC rookie
Marisa Acosta (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) stopped the clock in 28:46, while
Danielle Dyen-Shapiro (Estero, Fla./Cypress Lake) set a personal best of 34:39.
Sarah Lawrence College next competes at The City College of New York Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 12.
