Box Score 2 PURCHASE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College softball was defeated by Purchase College, 14-1 and 13-1, in a non-conference doubleheader at PC Softball Field on Wednesday.
Junior 
Tori Himes (Boulder, Colo./New Vista) gave Sarah Lawrence (0-16) its first hit in the top of the first inning, but Purchase (5-15) prevented any other Gryphons from reaching base in the first three innings. The Panthers posted six runs in the first inning and extended their lead with three more in the third.
Himes notched a second hit in the fourth inning but was stranded, while PC scored five in the bottom of the frame.
In the fifth inning, rookie 
Jocilyn Pak (Englewood Cliffs, N.J./Bergen Technical) led off with a hit. Pinch runner 
Sarah Weldon (New York, N.Y./Millennium) took over at first and rounded the bags to give the Gryphons their only run of the game.
Game two saw junior 
Ariana Muoio (Cross River, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) reach base twice in the first three innings, while Purchase put its 13 runs on the board.
Senior 
Mackenzie Gassett (Camden, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) led off the fourth inning with her third triple of the season, and two batters later, rookie 
Zoe Marks-Rowe (Sacramento, Calif./West Campus) notched her second RBI. The Gryphons held Purchase without a hit in the bottom of the inning, and the Green and White fell in order in the fifth, rounding out the day.
Rebecca Somogyi (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishiop John Carroll) performed double-duty, pitching two complete games. PC's Nicole Fortuna earned both wins from the circle for the Panthers.
Sarah Lawrence returns to Bronxville to host the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday at 4 p.m.
