Mount Saint Vincent Topples Softball on Senior Day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—The Gryphons were held to just three hits, as Sarah Lawrence College softball was defeated by College of Mount Saint Vincent, 20-0 and 11-0, in a non-conference doubleheader at Mary LeVine Field on Monday.

Between games, seniors Mackenzie Gassett (Camden, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) and Alex Dennis-Renner (Omaha, Neb./Brownell-Talbot College Prep.) were honored at a brief senior day ceremony, honoring their commitment to SLC's program.

Sarah Lawrence (0-18) needed until the fifth inning to get its first hit of game one. Sophomore Lauren Gray (Sea Cliff, N.Y./Waldorf School of Garden City) singled up the center to stave off the no-hitter. Meanwhile, Mount Saint Vincent (25-5) stockpiled 18 runs in the first three innings to take the win.

In game two, SLC's Rebecca Kuntz (Northridge, Calif./Chaminade College Preparatory) singled to center field on the first pitch of the bottom of the second inning, but she was stranded at third base. Gassett added a fourth-inning single to right field that just escaped the grip of the Dolphins' defense. CMSV racked up 11 runs on 15 hits in the game.

CMSV's Kathleen Davis tossed a complete-game, one-hitter with eight strikeouts in game one. Kathryn Dalton got the win in game two with two hits and six K's.

Sarah Lawrence returns to its home field on Thursday, when the Gryphons host Drew University at 4 p.m.
