NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College softball players
Rebecca Kuntz (Northridge, Calif./Chaminade College Preparatory) and
Mackenzie Gassett (Camden, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) have been named to the All-Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Team, as announced by the league following the 2014 HVIAC Softball Championship.
In her second season with the Gryphons, Kuntz tossed more than 55 percent of the team's innings played, racking up 48 strikeouts. Combined with 49 strikeouts from 2013, the sophomore took over as SLC's career leader in innings pitched, strikeouts and complete games. At the plate, Kuntz posted the team's second-best figures in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging.
Making her career debut, Gassett started in 23 games played and led the team in batting average (.411), slugging (.696) and on-base percentage (.470). She had 10 extra-base hits, including a home run against New Rochelle (April 29). Gassett also led the team in runs (19) while batting in 12 runs and adding four stolen bases. She also made one pitching appearance, striking out three in a complete game.
