BRONXVILLE, N.Y.-Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming hosted its fourth annual SLC Sprint Carnival at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday. The Gryphons split the field by placing second of three teams.

GREEN AND WHITE RELAYSThe Gryphons placed second in both relay events. In the 200 yard medley relay, senior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) teamed with rookies
Dawa Lama (New York, N.Y./The Beacon School),
Anthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) and
Jack Langland (Ottumwa, Iowa/Ottumwa) to post a time of 1:51.92, more than a second faster than the team's season debut at Stevens. The 200 freestyle relay saw the same quartet post a time of 1:37.96, a mere three seconds off of school-record pace.
TRIPLE CROWNTrue to form, Martinez touched the wall first in all three of his events. He won the 200 individual medley in 2:05.81, the 100 butterfly in 52.81 and the 50 butterfly in 24.43. The Gryphon was the highest-scoring male swimmer at the meet, and the only to man win three events.
LEE WINS TWO EVENTSBehind Martinez, rookie Lee was one of only two other male swimmers to win two events. He won the 50 freestyle in 23.72 seconds and the 200 free in 1:57.29. Lee also took second in the 100 freestyle (51.03), while both his 100 free and 200 free times are the team's fastest this season.
SEASON DEBUTSLama made his season debut in the 100 butterfly, placing fourth. He also took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.16) and third in the 50 breaststroke. Langland raced in the 200 free for the first time, placing second (2:14.53). Also,
Callum Bayle-Spence (Brooklyn, N.Y./Friends Seminary) hit the pool for the first time as a Gryphon, collecting most of his points with a pair of fifth-place finishes. Rookie
Derick Edgren (Fort Collins, Colo./Auburn (Ill.)) also raced in two new races, making his collegiate debut in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, placing fifth in both events.
BACKSTROKE & I.M.Rookie
Dimitri Popovic (New York, N.Y./Stuyvesant) competed in both backstroke events. He placed fourth in the 50 back (39.30) and took sixth in the 100 back. Junior
Nick Ransom (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) placed fourth in the 100 individual medley (1:13.29), while rookie
Sam Yang (Chengdu, China/Chengdu Experimental FLS) collected points with sixth-place swims in the 50 back and 100 I.M.
ROOKIES SHINETwo other rookies collected points for the first time in their respective careers.
Charles Allard (Fall River, Mass./B.M.C. Durfee) picked up points in the 50 freestyle by taking more than a second off his personal best to earn sixth place; he also contributed to the Green and White 'B' Relays.
Shaurya Chawla (New Delhi, India/Pathways World School) took several seconds off his 50 freestyle personal best and secured four points in the meet with a sixth-place swim in the 50 yard butterfly.
