SENIOR DAYAfter the meet Martinez was honored for his achievements with the program. In the team's sixth season as a varsity program, Martinez is SLC men's swimming's first four-year team member. True to form, he came out on top in all three of his races. Martinez won the 100 butterfly (53.15) in addition to his SLC-record swim in the 500 freestyle (5:01.29). He has held the team record in the event since 2013 and has lowered the mark twice in November.
GRYPHON RELAYMartinez joined rookies
Anthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island),
Dawa Lama (New York, N.Y./The Beacon School) and
Jack Langland (Ottumwa, Iowa/Ottumwa) in winning the day's first race, the 200 yard medley relay. The foursome clocked in at 1:52.64, winning by more than seven seconds.
ROOKIES DOMINATELee, Lama and Langland combined for five wins in the meet. Lee swam a personal-best to win the 200 yard freestyle (1:54.70) before later recording a win in the 100 freestyle (52.37). Lama swam a pair of personal bests to earn victories in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.71) and the 200 individual medley (2:22.94); he won the latter race by a margin of over 30 seconds. Langland rounded out the winning ways, taking first place in the 50 freestyle (26.02) while finishing runner-up in the 100 free (57.34).

Nick Ransom (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) posted a pair of season bests in the meet. He was runner-up in the 100 butterfly (1:16.89) and finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.73). Rookie
Derick Edgren (Fort Collins, Colo./Auburn (Ill.)) posted a pair of personal bests. He took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.56) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (27:09). Rookie
Callum Bayle-Spence (Brooklyn, N.Y./Friends Seminary) posted a personal best in the 100 freestyle (1:06.43), and fellow rookie
Charles Allard (Fall River, Mass./B.M.C. Durfee) had a personal best in the 500 freestyle (7:58.05).
Shaurya Chawla (New Delhi, India/Pathways World School) made his career debut in the 500 free (8:27.95).
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence takes two weeks off for Thanksgiving break. The team returns to action on Friday, Dec. 4, at the Drew University Ranger Invitational.
