BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the team's first dual meets of the season, Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming earned a pair of wins after defeating Skyline rival College of Mount Saint Vincent, 123-24, and non-conference opponent SUNY Cobleskill, 118-16, at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.

MARTINEZ BREAKS MEDLEY RECORDCameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) posted the first record-breaking time of the season with his powerful performance in the 400 yard individual medley. The senior Gryphon bettered his own record by over 20 seconds, winning the event in 4:25.28. His mark ranks among the top 20 times in NCAA Division III in the event this season. In the next men's race, Martinez returned to the water to triumph in the 200 butterfly, winning in 2:00.80.
LEE EARNS INDIVIDUAL WINSRookie
Anthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) also won a pair of individual races, taking first place in both of the sprint freestyle events. The first-year Gryphon took the 50 freestyle in 23.34, taking a sixth of a second off of his previous best. He won the 100 freestyle in 50.57, marking his first sub-51 effort. Both times are team-bests for the season.
Martinez and Lee earned their third win by helping the Green and White to victory in the 400 yard medley relay. Joined by
Dawa Lama (New York, N.Y./The Beacon School) and
Jack Langland (Ottumwa, Iowa/Ottumwa), the foursome cruised to first place in 4:07.56, winning by a 13-second margin.
GRYPHONS TAKE SEVENSLC swimmers combined to win seven of the 11 events on the day. Rookie
Callum Bayle-Spence (Brooklyn, N.Y./Friends Seminary) won his first collegiate race with a first-place swim in the 1650 yard freestyle; he also placed fourth in the 200 backstroke. Lama recorded the Gryphons' final victory, taking the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.47, seven and a half seconds faster than his previous mark. Lama also participated in the winning 400 medley relay and placed second in the 200 butterfly (2:34.08).
NOTABLE PERFORMANCESJunior
Nick Ransom (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) swam a career-best in the 50 freestyle, placing sixth in 27.99 seconds. He also captured third-place in the 200 yard breaststroke. Langland took third in the 200 freestyle while adding a fourth-place swim in the 100 free. Rookie
Derick Edgren (Fort Collins, Colo./Auburn (Ill.)) also had third-place (200 backstroke) and fourth-place (200 free) swims.
Charles Allard (Fall River, Mass./B.M.C. Durfee) achieved a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle while also competing in the 50 freestyle.
Shaurya Chawla (New Delhi, India/Pathways World School) swam a personal best in the 100 freestyle and competed in the 200 freestyle.
