Box Score 2 BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College softball began a three-day homestand with action against Mount Saint Mary College. The Gryphons were defeated 8-0 and 17-3 in Skyline action on Thursday at Mary LeVine Field.
Sarah Lawrence (1-20) was held to one hit in game one. Rookie
Riley Vuyovich (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) put a single into left field in the first inning of the game, and went on to record two stolen bases in the contest.
Mount Saint Mary (14-8, 9-1 Skyline) scored its eight runs off 10 hits. Victoria Goldbach earned the win with nine strikeouts and two walks, while SLC's
Kamaron McNair (Lawrenceville, N.J./The Hun School) had two strikeouts in a complete game of work.
In game two, Vuyovich hit her 10th double of the season in the first inning and came around to score the Gryphons' first run of the day. In the second inning, SLC junior
Rebecca Somogyi (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishiop John Carroll) also had a hit.
The third inning saw rookie
Eleni Spentzouris (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) reach base and move to third base on a single through the left side by Vuyovich. Next at the plate, McNair reached first base on a passed ball to load the bags. Rookie
Isabel Lamont (Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) and Somogyi brought Spentzouris and Vuyovich home, giving Sarah Lawrence two more runs.
MSMC scored five in the first inning and ran away with game two. Goldbach had another complete game win, striking out seven batters against one walk and three earned runs. Knights Stephanie Karcher and Breanna DePasquale each had home runs in the series.
In the circle for SLC, Somogyi made her ninth appearance of the season, and McNair had one strikeout in relief.
Up next, Sarah Lawrence hosts Farmingdale State College on Friday and The College at Old Westbury on Saturday.
