Softball Concludes Skyline Schedule

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College softball concluded a span of six home games in three days by hosting SUNY College at Old Westbury in a Skyline doubleheader at Mary LeVine Filed on Saturday. In the Gryphons' final conference games of their inaugural Skyline season, Old Westbury won, 13-0 and 10-1.

Sarah Lawrence (1-24, 0-14 Skyline) had four hits in game one with three in the first inning. Rookie Em Hammett (Columbus, Ohio/The Wellington School) led off with a single for the Gyrphons, while classmate Riley Vuyovich (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) singled to right field on her first at bat. Rookie Kamaron McNair (Lawrenceville, N.J./The Hun School) also singled in the frame, but SLC was dismissed without a run.

After scoring three in the first two innings, Old Westbury (5-21, 2-10 Skyline) scored five runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach.

In the fourth inning, Vuyovich recorded her second hit on a double to right center field.

McNair's complete game in the circle included two strikeouts against three walks and only four earned runs. For Old Westbury, Nicole DeCola earned the shutout victory with six strikeouts.

In game two, the SLC defense held the Panthers to two runs on four hits through five innings of play. Old Westbury did its damage with four runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Meanwhile, OW's Amanda Fucci dismissed the first 20 Gryphons she faced.

One out from a no-hitter, Vuyovich came to the plate and flew a ball into the center field fence. The effort marked her SLC-record 12th double of the season. Entering the week, the Gryphon ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division III in doubles per game played.

Next at the plate, McNair singled down the left field line to score Vuyovich from second base, erasing the shutout. In her second game of the day, McNair added two strikeouts to her season total.

Fucci earned the game-two win with two strikeouts and one earned run.

Sarah Lawrence catches its breath after playing 12 games in eight days. The Gryphons return to action for their final scheduled home series on Thursday against York College (N.Y.).
