MOVING UPThe team's third place finish is a stark improvement from last year. In 2014, the team placed 10th of 11 squads.
MARY KAUFFMAN (Marblehead, Mass., Marblehead) Returning to action from a year abroad, the 2013 team MVP placed second in Sunday's race, clocking in at 26:37: a mere 18 seconds back from the leader. The finish marked the senior's eighth top-10 effort and sixth runner-up performance.
ISABEL EDMONDS (Appleton, Wisc., Appleton North) Rookie Edmonds crossed the line as the No. 2 Gryphon in her career debut. She placed 15th overall in a time of 29:52, a pace of 8:01 per mile. With her first collegiate race, she entered the SLC record book as the seventh-fastest runner in program history.
TIFFANY MEIER (Goleta, Calif., Olive Grove Charter) The sophomore nearly placed among the top 20, finishing in 21st with a time of 30:07. Meier's effort was 1:16 faster than her last 6K race and vaulted her into eighth place on the team's overall recordboard.
MOLLY WALSH (Yarmouth, Maine, Yarmouth) Walsh took 32nd on the day, stopping the clock at 31:13. The rookie won a sprint to the line, edging out her nearest competitor by a mere six seconds. Walsh's effort put her 16th in the SLC team 6K history.
NAWSHIN ABANTI (Dhaka, Bangladesh, International School Dhaka) Abanti rounded out the five scoring runners for SLC, earning 38th place with a time of 32:10. Her placing is her second-best finish in an invitational meet.
KATIE SHEPARD (Big Pine, Calif., Mount Whitney) Shepard's time was well off her personal record pace but not unexpected for the first race of a season. She took 40th in 32:22 but highlighted her run by edging out her nearest competitor who was at her heels less than a second behind.
PAULINE STANFIEL (South Bend, Ind., John Adams) Also returning to action from a year abroad, Stanfiel finished three seconds behind Shepard with a time of 32:25, good for 42nd.
MARISA ACOSTA (San Diego, Calif., Canyon Crest Academy) Acosta finished the event in 52nd place in 33:25. Her effort was 36 seconds faster than her personal best at the distance.
