STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.—In the Gryphons' final dual meet of the season, Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming defeated College of Staten Island, 100-90, at the CSI Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday.

MEET FLOWSLC kicked off the meet with a victory in the 400 yard medley relay. Rookie
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield), sophomore
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School), senior
Sam Amberchan (Alameda, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and junior
Gabby Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) combined to win the event in 4:25.64. After the Gryphons fell behind in the team scoring, 44-25, Amberchan revived the Gryphons with a win in the 400 individual medley, stopping the clock at 5:47.24. Sophomore
Rachel Barkowitz (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) followed in second place for the one-two sweep, 6:13.78.
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) won the 200 butterfly in 2:29.47, and thanks to third-place points by
Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester), the Gryphons closed their deficit to one point, 51-50. Staten Island won the next two races to build up a 75-63 advantage with three events remaining. Mullan also had a career-best swim in the 200 freestyle (2:38.24).
Peal won again in the 500 freestyle, coasting to victory in 5:54.36 while lapping her closest opponent.
Sarah Schnapp (Taiwan/Tzu Chi) scored points for third place (6:40.77), nearly missing a second-place performance.
In the 200 breaststroke, Lawson led the way in 2:35.72, winning by more than 15 seconds. Barkowitz (3:08.55) placed third, and
Sky Mihaylo (Albany, Ore./West Albany) took fourth (3:38.27) in her first meet of the season. With all three swimmers' points, SLC was back on top, 89-86, with the final relay to decide the victor.
In the end,
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento), Schnapp, Mullan and Barkowitz pulled out a victory in the 400 freestyle relay. Their time of 4:37.99 won the event by 16.5 seconds and earned the Gryphons their seventh win of the season.
CONTINUING SUCCESSThe Gryphons end their regular season with a 7-2 overall record, extending their streak to eight straight seasons with a winning record.
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence will compete at the 2016 Skyline Conference Women's Swimming Championships hosted by Maritime College on January 29-30. SLC is the defending runner-up at the event.
