NEWBURGH, N.Y.—Despite five victorious efforts by the Gryphons, Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming was defeated by Mount Saint Mary College, 115-88, in a Skyline meet at Kaplan Recreation Center on Saturday.

Naima Joy Mackrel (Woodstock, N.Y./Kingston) and senior
Jacqueline Quirk (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) put together a time of 4:18.04. Peal's leadoff backstroke leg was a season best, and the quartet surpassed the previous SLC best by 0.27 second, narrowly missing the win in the event.
WINNING GRYPHONS
Lawson went on to earn wins in two individual events. The junior Gryphon swam a pair of season bests to win the 200 freestyle in 2:04.66, and the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.50. Mackrel also touched the wall first in both her individual events, swimming personal bests in the 50 freestyle (26.06) and 100 freestyle (57.79). Sarah Lawrence also received a win from Peal, who swam to first place in the 200 backstroke (2:21.88) and second in the 400 individual medley (5:18.11).
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Quirk posted a season best in the 200 breaststroke (2:52.03) to earn third place and score three of her six points in the meet. Senior
Gabrielle Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) also scored six points, including a third place in the 50 freestyle with a season-best of 27.04.
Junior
Rachel Barkowitz (Fleming Island, Fla./Dedham (Mass.)) took four seconds off her personal best to earn third place in the 400 individual medley with a time of 6:08.67. Senior
Sky Mihaylo (Albany, Ore./West Albany) also swam a personal best in the meet, taking nine seconds off her previous best in the 500 freestyle after touching the wall in 7:26.61.
Senior
Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) achieved third place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 3:07.91. Junior
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) swam a season best in the 200 backstroke (2:30.03), earning third place in the race; she also swam a season best in the 200 freestyle (2:18.22).
Rookie
Sarah Blanche Klein (Locust, N.J./Ranney School) bettered her collegiate best in the 200 breaststroke with a new time of 2:57.59. First year
