EWING, N.J.—Two Gryphons qualified for evening finals as Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming competed on day two of The College of New Jersey Lions Invitational at TCNJ Aquatic Center on Friday. The Gryphons rank fourth after the second day of competition; action concludes on Sunday.

TOP GRYPHONS
Sophomore
Anthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) qualified for the finals in two individual events. He swam a personal-best 55.75 in the preliminaries of the 100 yard butterfly, earning a ticket to the evening's B final. Then, he posted a time of 55.81 to earn 12th in the event. He also placed in the 100 backstroke, qualifying 13th and swimming a personal best 1:00.28 to capture 12th and total 10 solo points on the day.
Rookie
Sebastian Kleppe (San Francisco, Calif./Gateway to College) also qualified for the 100 backstroke B final. He swam a personal best 1:11.61 in the morning and bettered his mark to 1:09.95, earning 16th place in the evening. Kleppe's day also included a personal best in the 200 yard freestyle (2:17.74) to lead off the Gryphons' freestyle relay.
NOTABLE SWIMS
The Gryphons made the season's first attempt at the 800 yard freestyle relay. Behind Kleppe's opening leg, junior
Charles Philip Sheridan Allard (Fall River, Mass./B.M.C. Durfee), sophomore
Shaurya Chawla (New Delhi, India/Pathways World School) and rookie
Ben Behrman (Summit, N.J./Pingry School), rounded out a performance of 10:19.74.
Sarah Lawrence also posted a season-best time in the 200 yard medley relay. Lee, junior
Derick Edgren (Fort Collins, Colo./Auburn (Ill.)), senior
Nick Ransom (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) and sophomore
Jack Langland (Ottumwa, Iowa/Ottumwa) combined for a time of 1:51.25, six seconds faster than the quartet's previous time.
Edgren took five seconds off his personal best in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 2:06.39. He also swam a season best in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.97). Ransom swam a one-second improvement on his personal best in the 100 butterfly (1:05.72) and made his season debut in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.93). Behrman was the final Gryphon to swim a personal best on the day, taking 3.5 seconds off his prior mark in the 100 butterfly with a new time of 1:19.83.
