Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo). Mitchell is in his sixth season at the helm, having taken over the program in 2011-12. During his tenure, his Gryphons have broken all of their team records multiple times, and the team had a winning record in two of the last four seasons.
LEE SHINES IN INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
Sophomore
Anthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) placed among the top five in both of his individual races on Saturday. The 100 yard freestyle concluded in dramatic fashion with a three-way tie for fourth place at 50.78 seconds. Two of the three swimmers clocked times in previous heats, while Lee was able to secure his spot with his effort in the final wave. Lee also posted a career best in the 100 butterfly, posting a mark of 55.47 seconds, good for fifth place overall. For the weekend, he was the only Gryphon to score points in all four of his individual races.
GRYPHONS RELAY
The team's highest-scoring output was in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Lee teamed with senior
Derick Edgren (Fort Collins, Colo./Auburn (Ill.)), rookie
Sebastian Kleppe (San Francisco, Calif./Gateway to College) and sophomore Jack Lanland. In their first time competing as a quartet, the foursome put together a time of 3:42.22, earning fourth place in the event.
