PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—The Sarah Lawrence College women's and men's swimming programs made history in January 2017, as the two squads traveled to Palm Beach, Florida, for their first-ever winter-training trip.
The five-day event was sponsored in-part by generous alumni, parents and fans, who contributed to the trip through a team Swim-A-Thon in November.
During the trip, the teams trained at area pools and on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, conducting several practice sessions per day.
The trip included a meet on Sunday, January 8, during which the Gryphons squared off against Wheaton College (Mass.) in a relay-format competition.

Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield), rookie
Kaitie Dilan (Tolland, Conn./Tolland), senior
Gabrielle Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) and junior
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) posted a time of 5:19.41, good for first place. The Gryphon women swam to second place in four events.
