Box Score 2 BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College softball suffered its first Skyline losses of the season, falling to St. Joseph's College Long Island in a conference doubleheader at Mary LeVine Field on Saturday.

GAME ONE
St. Joseph's notched the first run of the day in the second inning. In the circle, sophomore 
Mikayla Cunningham (Mayville, Mich./Millington) recorded three early strikeouts to preserve the 1-0 score through 2.5 innings.
In the bottom of the third, rookie 
Kelsey Copley (West Jefferson, Ohio/West Jefferson) reached on a lead-off walk, and sophomore 
Taryn Penna (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) singled to left field. Both runners came home on a single by sophomore 
Baylie Petit (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore), and the Gryphons took a 2-1 edge.
St. Joseph's tied the score in the top of the fourth and went ahead for good with a seven-run fifth inning.
Petit finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, and junior 
Sarah Shapiro (Germantown, Md./Northwest) doubled to left field for the Gryphons' fourth and final hit. Rookie 
Karissa McAuley (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) pitched the final two outs for the team, including one strikeout.
GAME TWO
Penna started the second game with a double, and McAuley singled in the second inning. On defense, McAuley got the start and struck out a pair in the first two frames.
The Golden Eagles did their damage in the third inning, capitalizing on two SLC errors to score four runs. St. Joseph's added a fifth run in the fourth inning for a 5-0 lead; Shapiro recorded her second hit of the day in the bottom of the fourth.
The Gryphons erased the shutout in the bottom of the fifth inning. McAuley led off with her second single of the game, while Copley and senior 
Erin Chafatelli (Nashville, Tenn./McGavock) also singled in the inning to plate a run, 5-1.
St. Joseph's added a run in the sixth and seventh stanzas, and despite a late-game single by Cunningham, the Gryphons were held scoreless for the rest of the game.
McAuley threw the complete seven-inning game, allowing just two earned runs while striking out three Golden Eagles. The first year Gryphon helped her own cause with a pair of hits but was dealt her fourth loss of the season.

Sarah Lawrence will take on Mount Saint Mary College on the Gryphons' home field on Sunday at noon. After that, the Gryphons have off until they host Purchase College on Saturday, April 1, at noon.
