GAME ONE
The Gryphons threatened with runners in scoring position in five different innings in the first contest. Sophomore
Taryn Penna (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) singled and stole second base in the first inning.
Junior
Kamaron McNair (Lawrence Township, N.J./The Hun School) hit a single in the second inning, and in the third inning, the Green and White hit back-to-back singles off the bats of rookie
Mackenzie Mindish (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) and sophomore
Baylie Petit (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore).
Rookie
Karissa McAuley (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) singled in the fifth inning, and Penna doubled in the seventh to round out the Gryphons' six hits in the game.
In the circle, sophomore
Mikayla Cunningham (Mayville, Mich./Millington) threw four innings with a strikeout, while McAuley finished the last two innings with another strikeout.
GAME TWO
The second game started with Penna, Mindish and McAuley reaching first base as the three Gryphons were hit by errant pitches. Shapiro batted home the first runs of the game with a single up the middle, giving the Gryphons a 2-0 advantage.
In the second inning, Penna reached second base. That would be the only other runner the Green and White would put in scoring position for the remainder of the game. Sage tied the contest, 2-2, after the first frame and went on to score on eight-run rule in the fifth.
McAuley struck out two batters in the start, while Cunningham finished the game in relief.
