Men's Tennis Takes 5th at Conference Championship

Bronxville, NY - May 6, 2012

The Gryphons took fifth yesterday at the Hudson Valley Men's Athletics Conference Tennis Championship, held in Flushing, NY, besting St. Joe's-Brooklyn and taking home an All-Conference Team selection.

First Year Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School) was the only Gryphon to win his flight at fifth seed singles. Sophomore Aman Banerji (New Delhi, India/The Shri Ram School) also received recognition at yesterday's Championships, having won a place on the 2012 All-Conference Team.

Cooper Union took home first place with a score of 23, followed by Culinary with 10 points. Webb and Pratt tied for third with eight points a piece. Sarah Lawrence took fifth with four points for the day. St. Joe's-Brooklyn came in sixth with one point.

Congratulations to Warkus, Banerji, and the entire Men's Tennis Team on an exciting 2012 season. Along with their fifth place finish at Championships, the team finishes with a 4-5 record for the year, following some tough play and a few matches this season that could have gone either way.
