POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—Recording the team's first shutout of the season, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis swept Culinary Institute of America, 9-0, in a Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference match at Dutchess Racquet Club on Saturday.
Sarah Lawrence (3-5, 2-1 HVMAC) began the day by winning all three doubles matches. In the No. 1 spot,
Phil London (New York, N.Y., Horace Mann) and
Aman Banerji (New Delhi, India, The Shri Ram School) earned this season's first win as a partnership, 8-3.
The Gryphons' No. 2 duo of
Shotaro de Bourbon (Paris, France, International School of Paris) and
Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i, Parker School) had more difficulty but escaped their match, 8-6.
Cameron Basham (Los Angeles, Calif., John Marshall) and
Nathan Thompson (Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego) rounded out the effort with an 8-1 rout at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, London posted an impressive 10-0 shutout in the No. 1 position. Banerji followed with a 10-5 win in the No. 2 slot. De Bourbon won 10-5 at No. 3, while Warkus picked up a 10-5 win in No. 4.
Basham won his second straight match, 10-5, at No. 5 singles, while Thompson earned his sixth consecutive victory, 10-5, in the No. 6 match.
Sarah Lawrence begins a three-match homestand by hosting Vaughn College on Tuesday. Play at Andrews Courts is scheduled for 7 p.m.
