Men's Tennis Falls to Bard

Match Results

FLUSHING, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis was defeated by Bard College, 6-3, in a non-conference match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Saturday.

Sarah Lawrence (4-6) got on the scoreboard with a win in the No. 3 doubles position. Rookie Cameron Basham (Los Angeles, Calif., John Marshall)and senior Nathan Thompson (Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego) defeated their opponents, 8-2, to earn the Gryphons' first point of the match. Bard won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 2-1 lead.

In singles, Thompson won his eighth-straight singles match, defeating his opponent, 10-5, in the No. 6 match. Sophomore Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i, Parker School) rounded out the Gryphons' scoring with a hard-fought, tie-breaker win, 10-9 (7-0), in the No. 4 match.

Sarah Lawrence's next scheduled opponent is Saint Joseph's College Brooklyn. The Gryphons are slated to face the Bears at the USTA National Tennis Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
