FLUSHING, N.Y.—In the team's first match after spring break, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis was defeated by NYU Polytechnic, 9-0, in a non-conference match at the US National Tennis Center on Tuesday.
NYU Poly (5-1) took a quick lead in the match by sweeping the three doubles pairings. Gryphons
Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i, Parker School) and
Nathan Thompson (Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego) hung close at the start of the No. 3 match, but the duo was unable to recover three lost break points in the 8-2 match.
Sarah Lawrence (0-2) was unable to keep up in singles play, as the Fighting Blue Jays held the Gryphons to only 14 games won across all six individual matches.
Sarah Lawrence returns to Flushing on Wednesday night when the Gryphons will take on Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference opponent Pratt Institute at 7 p.m.
