BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—
Despite a split of the day's six singles matches, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis was unable to recover from an early deficit as the Gryphons fell to Albertus Magnus, 5-4, in a non-conference match at Andrews Courts on Sunday.

For Sarah Lawrence (1-4), sophomore Cameron Basham (Los Angeles, Calif., John Marshall) and senior Nathan Thompson (Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego) partnered to win their second-straight doubles match in the No. 3 spot. The duo triumphed by an 8-5 margin to score the Gryphons' first point of the day.

Albertus Magnus (3-5) responded with an 8-3 win by Pete Zacharias and Marcus Artaiz in the No. 1 match. Cerrone Bell and Mathew Mezzei gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead in the team scoring by securing the No. 2 doubles pairing, 8-6.

In singles play, top Gryphon Phil London (New York, N.Y., Horace Mann) secured his second consecutive individual win with a 10-7 pro-set victory in the No. 1 position. Junior Aman Banerji (New Delhi, India, The Shri Ram School) added a point for the Green and White with his win in the No. 3 match by an identical 10-7 score.

Albertus Magnus' Artaiz cruised to a 10-1 win in the No. 2 match, while Mezzei notched a 10-4 win at No. 4, giving the Falcons a 4-3 lead—one point from clinching the match.

Sarah Lawrence's Thompson kept the Gryphons alive with a 10-5 win in the No. 5 match to level the team score at 4-4.

With the match on the line, Falcon Ahmed Abdulabteef and Gryphon Harper Hunt (Paris, Texas, Paris) dueled until Albertus Magnus gained the edge late in the match and locked up the victory with a 10-8 win in the No. 6 slot.

Sarah Lawrence returns to the courts on Tuesday with a showdown against Brooklyn College at 6 p.m.
