Men's Tennis Detonated by Cannoneers

Match Results

FLUSHING, N.Y.—Breaking a streak of three-straight Gryphon wins, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis was bested by Pratt Institute, 7-2, in a non-conference match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Thursday.

After Pratt (4-4) won two of the three doubles matches, Sarah Lawrence (4-7) was unable to rebound, snapping a three-match hot streak.

In No. 1 doubles, juniors Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School) and Adam Neufeld (Bronx, N.Y./The Calhoun School) partnered for only the second time this season and fell by an 8-2 margin. Pratt swept the No. 2 match, while the shorthanded Cannoneers forfeited the No. 3 match.

With SLC trailing 2-1, Warkus was able to win five games at the No. 1 singles position, while Neufeld notched three games in the No. 2 match.

Rookies Aidan O'Brien (Mansfield, Conn./Edwin O. Smith) and Jack Bell (Washington, D.C./British School of Washington) also won games, but Pratt was victorious in the top five singles matches while handing SLC a free point in the No. 6 position.

Sarah Lawrence and Pratt will meet again on Saturday in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match scheduled to be played in Bronxville at 11:30 a.m.
