NEW YORK—At the conclusion of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Men's Tennis Championships, the league announced the 10 men named to the 2014 All-HVIAC Men's Tennis Team. Among the recipients, Sarah Lawrence College senior
Nate Currier (San Rafael, Calif./The Branson School) and junior
Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School) were honored.
Currier played the entirety of the 2014 season at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions. He went undefeated in four conference singles matches and won six of seven straight singles matches from April 5 to 19. Against HVIAC opponents St. Joseph's and Vaughn, he won back-to-back, 8-0 shutout doubles matches with partner Warkus.
Warkus played in all 13 dual matches, playing at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles. He twice strung together three-match winning streaks in singles play and won three straight doubles matches with partner Currier. Warkus advanced to HVIAC Championships No. 2 singles final with 8-2 semifinal victory, and with partner
Jack Bell (Washington, D.C./British School of Washington), he advanced to HVIAC semifinals of No. 1 doubles flight with 8-3 triumph over Vaughn.
