MADISON, N.J.-The Gryphons broke three team records as Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming stands in second place after day one of the 2015 Drew University Ranger Invitational at F.M. Kirby Pool on Friday.

THREE NEW RECORDS
Rookie
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) opened the meet with a record-breaking win in the 500 yard freestyle. She took nearly five seconds off her own SLC record time, winning the race in 5:37.32. In Friday's evening session, Peal broke her own SLC record in the 400 individual medley, placing second with a time of 5:07.72. The effort is a three-second improvement over her previous mark.
Junior
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) broke the Gryphons' 200 individual medley record. In an exhibition race, she finished in 2:18.33, knocking off the team's previous record set in 2012. Lawson placed second in the 200 freestyle, taking more than six seconds off her career best with a time of 2:01.93, and she also swam a season-best of 26.70 in an exhibition 50 free.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES
Senior
Sam Amberchan (Alameda, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) placed fifth in the 200 yard individual medley, posting a time of 2:38.16 in her first swim in the event this season.
Junior
Jacqueline Quirk (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) placed seventh in the 50 free, touching the wall in a career-best 26.90 seconds. In a pair of exhibition swims, she set a 200 IM personal best of 2:31.22 and a 200 free career-best of 2:11.98.
Sophomore
Sarah Schnapp (Taiwan/Tzu Chi) achieved a seventh-place swim of 1:20.57 in the 100 yard butterfly. She also posted a season-best time of 2:47.00 to take eighth in the 200 individual medley.
Junior
Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) placed sixth in the 100 yard butterfly, swimming a season-best time of 1:18.01. She also posted a season-best time of 2:53.97 in the 200 individual medley.
In a pair of exhibition swims, junior
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) set a 200 IM career-best of 2:39.10 and a 200 free personal best of 2:17.46.
Sophomore
Rachel Barkowitz (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) swam a season-best in the 200 individual medley (2:52.29).
Rookie
Kiki Michaan (New York, N.Y./Saint Ann's School) swam a career-best 9:28.38 in the 500 free. She also swam a personal-best of 37.22 in the 50 free.
GRYPHON RELAYS
In Friday's morning session, Peal, Lawson, Amberchan and Quirk placed third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.59. The foursome of Kroll, Barkowitz, Schnapp and Mullan placed seventh in 2:27.97.
The evening session included the 200 yard freestyle relay, in which Lawson, Peal, Quirk and Kroll finished as the runner-up squad in 1:49.55. Schnapp, Barkowitz, Mullan and Amberchan combined to take seventh in 2:09.51.
In the day's final race, Peal, Lawson, Amberchan and Quirk took second in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:28.65. The quartet of Kroll, Barkowitz, Mullan and Schnapp placed sixth with a combined effort of 5:14.57.

Ranger Invitational action concludes on Saturday with the morning session at 10 a.m. and the evening session starting at 5 p.m.
