BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the last weekend of the Gryphons' season, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis was defeated by The Cooper Union, 7-2, in a non-conference match at Andrews Courts on Saturday.
In doubles action, Sarah Lawrence (2-9) was able to pick up a point in one of the three matches. SLC's No. 2 pair of senior
Adam Neufeld (Bronx, N.Y./The Calhoun School) and rookie
Jasper Soloff (New York, N.Y./Trevor Day School) took a 2-0 lead but lost five straight games to trail 5-2. The Gryphons rebounded and won five of the next six games to take a 7-6 edge en route to a 7-7 deadlock. In the tiebreaker, the Green and White won four of the last five points to win the match, 8-7(7-4).
Cooper Union won the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches to take a 4-1 lead in the team scoring.
Soloff improved to 3-0 in singles play with a dominant win at No. 4 singles. He won the first six and the last four games of a 10-1 triumph, earning the Gryphons their second team point. CU then clinched the match with a win at No. 5 singles.

Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) played a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles, winning his service games four times in a row before eventually yielding, 10-4. At No. 6 singles, first year
Bowen Li (Shanghai, China/Maine Central Institute) gave up two early break points and held serve until falling 10-4.
Sarah Lawrence travels to Bard College on Sunday. The Gryphons then conclude the 2015 season at home on Wednesday against Bard College.
