QUEENS, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis played its first Skyline match of the season, hosting Farmingdale State College at Alley Pond Tennis Center on Saturday.

IN SHORT
Farmingdale State (4-2, 1-0 Skyline) def. Sarah Lawrence (0-2, 0-1 Skyline), 9-0.

SINGLES
SLC's No. 1 player Matias Sanchez (Córdoba, Argentina/Academia Arguello) fought a tough match, winning five games in his opening set. The rookie Gryphon stumbled in the second set of his 7-5, 6-0 loss. Rookie Garrett Hsuan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bard H.S. Early College) won two games in his match at No. 2 singles, and in the No. 6 position, rookie Arnie Welles (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick School) won two games in his career debut.

DOUBLES
The Rams took control of the match early, winning all three doubles positions. At No. 1 doubles, Sanchez and rookie Ian Gonzalez (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) won six games in their match but were outdone by the Farmingdale pair, 8-6. Senior Juan Sucre (Caracas, Venezuela/ASFM (Monterrey, Mexico)) and sophomore Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) teamed up in the No. 2 match, and senior James Berry (New York, N.Y./Kent) joined rookie Alex Wah (New York, N.Y./Riverdale Country / Bay Sch. of S.F.) in the No. 3 doubles match.

Sarah Lawrence hosts two-time defending Skyline champion Yeshiva University on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Weather permitting, the match will be played on-campus.
