Men's Tennis Wins Two Points at Farmingdale State

Match Results

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—
After having been shut out by the Rams in the teams' three previous meetings, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis stole two points from Farmingdale State College in a Skyline match at FSC Tennis Courts on Tuesday.

IN SHORT
Farmingdale State (6-6, 2-2 Skyline) def. Sarah Lawrence (4-3, 2-3 Skyline), 7-2.

DOUBLES
In doubles action, sophomore Garrett Hsuan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bard H.S. Early College) and junior Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) teamed up to clinch a victory in the No. 2 match. The duo cruised to an 8-3 triumph and improved to 2-0 as a partnership after knocking off their second league opponent.

The No. 3 doubles match saw rookie Aidan Reckziegel (Montreal, Canada/Idyllwild Arts Acad. (Calif.)) and sophomore Alex Wah (New York, N.Y./Riverdale Country / Bay Sch. of S.F.) win six games in their 8-6 loss.

SINGLES
Hsuan showed strength in the No. 2 singles match after winning back-to-back games to win his opening set, 7-5. He was unable to hold on to momentum as his Farmingdale opponent took the match, 5-7, 6-4, 6-0.

Sophomore Ian Gonzalez (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) picked up the Gryphons' first-ever individual win over Farmingdale State with his win in the No. 3 match. Gonzalez blanked his opponent 6-0 in the first set and seemed destined for victory. After dropping the second set, 7-5, he showed his resilience by rebounding to win the third frame and secure his second-straight singles win, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4.

Individually, Reckziegel put up a fight in the No. 4 singles match, winning nine games in his 6-4, 7-5, defeat; the match was his first loss to a league opponent this season.

Senior Jasper Soloff (New York, N.Y./Trevor Day School) tied his first set, 5-5, but eventually succumbed, 7-5, 6-3.

Sarah Lawrence is slated to travel to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Friday before returning home to host Purchas College on Saturday at noon.
