Men's Tennis Sweeps Sage

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—
Sarah Lawrence men's tennis picked up its second shutout victory of the season as the Gryphons swept The Sage Colleges, 9-0, in a Skyline match at SLC Tennis Courts on Saturday.

IN SHORT
Sarah Lawrence (4-1, 2-1 Skyline) def. Sage (0-6, 0-3 Skyline), 9-0.

DOUBLES
The Gryphons won all three doubles matches while yielding just one game to the Gators. In the No. 3 match, junior Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) and sophomore Alex Wah (New York, N.Y./Riverdale Country / Bay Sch. of S.F.) blanked their foes, 8-0. Seconds later, sophomore Garrett Hsuan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bard H.S. Early College) and junior Mehran Hicks (Hartsdale, N.Y./The Masters School) did the same at No. 2 doubles, 8-0.

In the No. 1 match, sophomores Matias Sanchez (Córdoba, Argentina/Academia Arguello) and Ian Gonzalez (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) earned their second win of the season with an 8-1 triumph.

SINGLES
The bottom half of the lineup was first to take the courts, and the three Gryphons achieved flawless victory with 6-0, 6-0 set scores.

At No. 5 singles, senior Jasper Soloff (New York, N.Y./Trevor Day School) won a double-shutout victory for the third time this season. In the No. 4 match, rookie Aidan Reckziegel (Montreal, Canada/Idyllwild Arts Acad. (Calif.)) had the honor of scoring the team match-clinching point for the first time in his career. Senior Arnie Welles (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick School) won the No. 6 singles match with his first career double-shutout straight-sets win.

Sanchez faced a tough Gator opponent in the No. 1 singles match yet survived to win 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Gonzalez came away with a 6-3, 6-1 win. Hsuan completed the sweep with his win at No. 2 singles, taking the match by a margin of 6-2, 6-2.

Sarah Lawrence continues Skyline play on Sunday morning when the Gryphons travel to Mount Saint Mary College. The Gryphons next return to their home courts when the team hosts back-to-back matches on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23.
