ITHACA, N.Y.—Four more team records were broken on the final day, and Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming broke a total of eight team records at the 2016 Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships, hosted by Ithaca College, Wednesday through Saturday.
IN SHORTSLC finished the meet in 13th place with 206 points. The host Bombers regained first place and won the team title with 1,227 points.
LAWSON PLACES FIFTH IN BREASTSTROKEAfter placing 15th in the 200 yard breaststroke in 2015, sophomore
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) ascended 10 spots to finish fifth in Saturday's final. Lawson broke her own SLC record in the event in Saturday's preliminaries, posting a time of 2:26.21 to qualify for the championship race in fourth position. Though Lawson bettered her time by nearly a second in the evening, she fell 0.03 second short of maintaining her position and slipped to fifth in a new SLC record time of 2:25.29.
PEAL BREAKS DISTANCE RECORDSIn her final individual race of the season, rookie
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) bettered both of her own SLC distance records. Racing to 1650 yards, the first-year Gryphon bettered her own time in the 1000 yard freestyle, splitting a time of 11:32.08 after 20 laps. Peal went on to stop the clock at 19:11.46, nearly 30 seconds faster than her previous best. Peal captured 22nd place in the event, adding three points to the Gryphons' team score.
400 FREE RELAYFour days of racing culminated in a record-breaking swim in the final event of the meet. The Green and White 400 yard freestyle relay tied for fifth place in the B Final, finishing deadlocked for 13th overall. Lawson, junior

Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) and Peal combined for a time of 3:53.27, posting the team's final new record of the 2015-16 season.

Rachel Barkowitz (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) swam a career best of 2:57.87 in the 200 yard breaststroke. Rookie
Kiki Michaan (New York, N.Y./Saint Ann's School) also had a career best, clocking in at 1:14.57 in the 100 yard freestyle. Risica had a season best of 59.00 in the 100 free.
SEASON RECAPSarah Lawrence women's swimming concluded its eighth-straight winning season with a 7-2 record, including a 5-2 ledger against Skyline opponents. The team broke nine program records and placed third at the 2016 Skyline Championships. Four Gryphons were named to the All-Skyline teams, and the team captured five Skyline Swimmer of the Week and three Rookie of the Week accolades. SLC was also named a CSCAA All-Academic Team.
