Sarah Lawrence Athletics Hall of Fame
Tara Passoni was a member of both the crew and tennis teams during her time at Sarah Lawrence College. She was a key part of the 1996-97 crew team's second place finish at the Fall Mira Championships in the Varsity 4+ "A" in addition to multiple top-5 finishes at the Dowling Alumni Cup that same year.
Aside from athletics, Passoni was very involved with Sarah Lawrence as a member of the Student Senate from 1995-97, the Student Disciplinary Committee from 1995-97, and as an RA from 1996-97. She was also a Helen Lynd Scholar and an Admitted Students Day panelist.
While she was an important member of both teams as a Gryphon, Passoni's success was not limited to her time at Sarah Lawrence. In addition to rowing and playing tennis, Passoni played for a women's professional football team, the New York Sharks, following her time at Sarah Lawrence College and was the first Sarah Lawrence alum to play professional football. During her time with the Sharks she played tight end and offensive guard and was part of the team's undefeated 2002 WPFL Super Bowl-winning season.
Following her football career, the decorated multi-sport athlete returned to rowing, taking home the bronze medal at the
CRASH B's World Indoor Rowing Championship, in the Women's Master's 30-39 Heavyweight category. Passoni won gold medals at the Head of the Schuylkill and Canadian Henley Regattas and is both a two-time U.S. Rowing Masters National Champion and World Rowing Masters Champion.
Tara earned her MBA following graduation and now works as a regulatory consultant in the financial and financial-tech industries while being a mother to two beloved teenagers.
