WEBSTER, N.Y.—One final team record was broken, as Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming competed in the fourth and final day of the 2015 Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships, hosted by Nazareth College at Webster Aquatic Center on Saturday.
Junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) broke his third team record of the championship as the lead off leg in the Gryphons' 400 yard freestyle relay. After breaking his own SLC record in Saturday's preliminaries, Martinez swam 100 yards in 46.96 seconds to open up the Green and White relay in the evening's championship heats. Behind him, sophomore
Jack Chu (Hong Kong/Irvington (Calif.)), rookie
Brendan McAlevy (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) and senior
Jay Pulitano (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) rounded out the foursome, finishing the relay in 3:31.98 for 13th place points.
In Saturday's preliminaries, Chu narrowly missed the finals of the 100 freestyle, placing 27th with a swim of 49.05 seconds. Both McAlevy and sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) swam career bests in the same event.
Pulitano swam his final individual career race in the preliminaries of the 200 yard backstroke, posting a personal best of 2:30.18.
The men's swimming team completed the 2014-15 season with new records in 12 events, setting new marks on a total of 21 occasions.
